Open full gallery →IIT Kharagpur is India’s first IIT, established by the Government of India in 1951 in Kharagpur, West Bengal, and recognized as an Institute of National Importance. It was later designated an Institute of Eminence (2019) and remains a large autonomous technical university offering engineering, sciences, and professional programmes.
