GP Imphal is one of the premier institutions of technical education situated in Imphal started in the year 1956. This affiliated college is situated in Takyelpat, Imphal West, Manipur, and the college occupies a total of fifteen acres and sixty-eight cent of the area.

Affiliated to the prestigious all India council for technical education newly known as the technical education quality improve, modem educational insitute has been preparing young engineers for over 6 decades now. At the current time, the institute has 421 student population that are taught by 31 Faculty members.

GP Imphal offers four diploma programs in engineering which are intended to equip students with a good background in the field of their discipline. The institute boast of various facilities to facilitate the learning of its students by providing them with a conducive environment to learn in.

The campus tenants possess well equipped laboratories for every discipline of engineering requiring efficient hands-on practices in respective specific workshops. The College also has a fully fledged library with books mixture approximately 30000 and a book bank to the Schedule Caste and Tribe students.

For the students seeking lodging, GP Imphal offers the hostel service for temporary accommodation; including Boys Hostel which has the seating capacity of 60 and Girls Hostel including the seating capacity of 30. It also has an in-house dispensary with a resident medical doctor and a nurse in case of any eventuality. Sports lovers can enjoy themselves with both indoor and outdoor sporting activities facilities.

Moreover, the campus provides a general utility auditorium, which occupies 720 people and is suitable for meetings and other events. Government Polytechnic, Imphal currently conducts four full time diploma programs in engineering spread over three academic years. The institute has a total of 150 seats for the students in all the programs offered in the institute.

Some of the course available are Diploma in Civil Engineering , Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering .
