Bhoomi College is an institution that was started in Bangalore with the goal of living green and getting an education for the same. Located in a 4-acre campus in Chikkanayakanahalli, off Sarjapura Road, this self-financing autonomous college offers fellowship programmes in specialisations that aim at building enlightened citizens who are sensitive to the environment.
which provides a recognition of only two kinds of fellowship programmes in one year with the total admission capacity of fifty students. The college has enshrined a number of infrastructures, which realise the mission of environmental and comprehensive learning. On matters concerning accommodation, students will be privileged to be taken through separate hostels for boys and girls.
Apart from that, to support the sustainable architecture, some of the buildings on the campus, namely the hostels, the ‘Learning Kitchen’, and the dining room ‘Vasundhara’, are built utilising mud bags. For the day scholars, the college provides canteen services which are serving breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices.
Also, there’s a guest house or waiting room for the visiting faculty or the students’ families and friends to have a comfortable setting. Two ten-month full-time fellowship programmes are available at Bhoomi College. The most formal courses are the Fellowship Programme in Sustainable Living and the Fellowship Programme in Holistic Education.
Intake for both programmes is approved for 25 students; hence, the learning community per academic year is limited to fifty students. They are programmes which offer extended and advanced learning in certain main disciplines to equip students with competencies on issues concerning sustainable development and balanced and integrated learning in personal as well as professional lives.
The process of admission used by Bhoomi College also reflects specific requirements of its programmes and the concept behind the college.
