Carmel Polytechnic College, Alappuzha

Established in 1958 Carmel Polytechnic College is an acknowledged technical college situated in Punnapra, Alappuzha, Kerala. Part of this affiliate university, accredited fully by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has been grooming technical brains for education for well over half a century.

The college extends over 10 acres of land featuring an assortment of diploma programmes in engineering fields. This college has a total strength of students intake is one thousand eighty four and faculty members are forty six facilitate technical education. The institution has six full time diploma courses each of three years intakes to tackle various engineering disciplines.

The college has a resource of facilities that are intended to facilitate the learning process of the students. each has a separated hostel is for boy and girls, Boys Hostel has the capacities of 200 students the warden of the Boys Hostel is Rev. Fr. Josekutty Chacko CMI, Senioress for Girls Hostel is Sr. Elsa.

A fully equipped computerized library and reading room are available to students for the reading of thousands of books and journals from both local and foreign sources. It also has health concerns with reference to sports facilities in the college. As far as information technology is concerned Carmel Polytechnic College is very much in touch with the advanced technologies due to adequate infrastructure.

Other facilities are canteen services, laboratories based on departments, an auditorium for conferences, seminars, and a health facility with first aid services. The institution also has a guest house for use by visitors such as the teaching faculty as well as students’ relatives. While in Carmel Polytechnic College has six diploma courses, all of which are full-time.

Some of the offered courses are: Diploma in Computer Engineering , Electronics Engineering Automobile Engineering Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering . The capacity for every course has been approved by the competent authorities to admit 60 students which when adding for all programs gives an approximate of 360 seats.

These three-year diploma courses are intended to impart relevant skills and academic content knowledge in the engineering discipline the student takes. The admission policy implemented by Carmel Polytechnic College is a rigid one that follows all the policies set by the Director of Technical Education for admission, Government of Kerala.
