Pharmaceutical education in India got a new member at GM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Davanagere, in 2019. This affiliated college is situated in Davangere, Karnataka, and it is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which makes its course conform to the national course standards in the pharmaceutical field.
At the moment, this is a co-educational institute, established with 105 total enrolment and staffed with 12 faculty members, keeping the student-faculty ratio intact. GM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Davangere, is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
GM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research has several amenities that are meant to support the teaching/learning process as well as the general personality development of the learners. It is a knowledge base, educational, and reference institution offering students an extensive list of pharmaceutical literature and references.
Modernised laboratories with standard instrumentation and apparatus provide practical acquaintance in different spheres of pharmaceutical sciences. In line with the current modernised learning environment, the college laid down a pleasing IT groundwork and equipped its students with the latest technology. For the students who need to live in the facility, there are separate hostels for boys and girls for the outdoor students to enhance their stay with the institute.
At present, GM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research is serving one full-time course – B. Pharma in the field of pharmacy. This programme is a four-year undergraduate course that is aimed at producing students with an adequate background in pharmaceutical sciences so that they can practice in any sector of the pharmaceutical business.
