Government First Grade College Mundgod is affiliated with Karnatak University in Dharwad. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to students of the Commerce and Arts streams. Generally, donations begin about a few weeks after publication of the 12th standard results, which is usually in May-June for the academic year starting in August-September.

In general terms, to qualify for enrollment into an undergraduate programme, an applicant, at the very least, needs to have completed 10+2 from a recognised board. However, performance in the qualifying examinations holds the highest weightage for GFGC Mundgod admission. This being a government institution, its purpose is to provide education at involving low cost so that a vast majority of students can afford it.
