How to use the ap physics score calculator
Each block explains one part of how this works and how to read the result.
Choose your method and enter inputs
Choose Physics 1, Physics 2 or Physics C and use the matching current structure or historical practice profile.
Choose the subject and exact scoring profile before entering question points. Historical practice profiles use their own question counts and score bands; current component models have no built-in 1–5 cutoffs.
Formula and methodology
Add raw question points multiplied by the selected profile’s component weights. Round the composite before applying that profile’s score bands.
The calculation breakdown lists what was counted and which rules were applied. Data-backed results identify their source and version; changing inputs clears a previous result so it cannot be mistaken for a new calculation.
Worked example
A current-format model with 70% multiple-choice performance and 60% free-response performance produces a 65/100 composite when sections each contribute 50%. This alone does not establish a 1-5 score.
Assumptions and limitations
Cutoffs are form-specific. Historical profiles are not current official AP predictions. Chemistry and Physics 1/2 have no verified built-in conversion bands; optional user cutoffs are estimates.
Check the result's method and linked source. A practice profile or planning estimate should be interpreted within its stated assumptions.
Frequently asked questions
How does the ap physics score calculator calculate its result?
Add raw question points multiplied by the selected profile’s component weights. Round the composite before applying that profile’s score bands.
Can I use this without an account?
Yes. The tool is free and does not require a login. Financial worksheets calculate in your browser; DOI metadata is retrieved from Crossref.
What assumptions should I check?
Cutoffs are form-specific. Historical profiles are not current official AP predictions. Chemistry and Physics 1/2 have no verified built-in conversion bands; optional user cutoffs are estimates.
Can I access the same calculation through an API?
Yes. Use /api/tools/ap-physics-score-calculator. Structured arrays and financial inputs use a JSON POST body. The API returns calculation steps and source provenance.

Developer API
POST JSON to /api/tools/ap-physics-score-calculator. The browser and API share the same deterministic engine. Financial inputs use POST only and responses are not cached. The service does not store your financial inputs.
Response fields: title, value, metrics, steps, rows, warnings, provenance. Citation responses also include normalized metadata and in-text citations.
