Aakarshan College of Education, Pathankot

Aakarshan College of Education at Pathankot was started in 2007 and is affiliated to Pt. This institute is situated in Punjab, India, and occupies an area of five acres of land. The learning institution enjoys an approval from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college up till now offers two full-time education programmes with a total enrolment capacity of 144 students and has a team of 23 committed faculty members. Focussing on teacher education courses, Aakarshan College of Education aims to equip its students with skills in the area of teaching and learning as well as in educational knowledge systems.

The college has a number of facilities that are supposed to foster learning among students in the college. A well-stocked library is an important part of a knowledge centre which is helpful in the provision of knowledge to the students. In practical learning, the college has individual departmental practical laboratories where students can practise what they have learnt.

It also occupies an auditorium that will cover the need for a seminar or an event that enhances the students’ personality. There are spaces for playing different games and exercising for the students to keep fit and exercise. There is also student health with a medical centre where first aid is sought in case of an emergency.

Also, adequate investment in excellent information technology has been made to make sure that students are productive in the advanced technologies in education. Aakarshan College of Education offers two primary courses: a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) along with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed. ). They are both daytime courses aimed at getting the student a job in teaching upon completion of the course.

The B. Ed. programme admittance capacity approved is one hundredstudents, the D. El. Ed. program admittance capacity is fiftystudents. These programmes are designed to afford broad exposure to the principles of education and practice that prepares graduates for success in various educational contexts. Ed 50 At Aakarshan College of Education, admission is provided on the basis of merit through marks obtained in the qualifying examination /entrance examination. The college operates under various admission policies set forth by the government of Punjab, as well as the university with which the college is affiliated. It is, however, important to indicate that for the B.

Ed programme, the schools shall follow some additional steps in line with the university requirements. Likewise, admission to the D. El. Ed programme is conducted as per the rules and regulations of the state government or UT administration.
