Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education was established in 2008 at Guwahati is one of the preeminent physical education and sports science institution. This affiliated college is established in Guwahati, Assam and it consists of vast area of land 4. 69 acre of land. It is a private institute offering two post graduate degree programmes in physical education admitting 140 students in aggregate.

The institute boasts of a faculty team of only 11 members all of whom possess considerable years of experience and talented in their roles as educators. The institute has a rich portfolio of infrastructural resources to facilitate the learning and sports activities of the members .

The facility at the college include Radha Govinda Baruah Library that has over 3,000 books on physical education, health, anatomy, physiology, and sports medicine along with reference and journals. For the purpose of practical learning, Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education offers well equipped laboratory and a recently established gymnasium.

Sports facilities range with various athletic activities making they to perform in various fields and gain experience. An auditorium is used for occasion and seminars, and a cafeteria for the students to eat and interact. The college has effectively placed facilities that assist in presenting contemporary methods of learning and exposure to technology in the field.

Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education offers two undergraduate programmes : Bachelors in Physical Education and Sports have two main categories B. P. Ed and B. P. E. S. B. P. Ed or Bachelor of Physical Education and Training is a 2 year course with an intake capacity of 100 students, graduating teachers who can teach physical education and or coach sports. The B. P. E.

S programme is another programme with the capacity to hold forty students; they take a three-year course that looks at a much broader vista of sports sciences and management.

Both programmes are designed to give the student a blended understanding of physical education, mechanisms of motivation, mechanical efficiency and sport organisation to enable dispense the sort of knowledge and skills needed in the unfolding world of sport and physical activity.
