Ahmedabad Arts and Commerce College, Vasna

Ahmedabad Arts and Commerce College is first of the six premier institutes that got established by Ahmedabad Kelavani Trust in the June of 1965 in affiliation with Gujarat University. The college also received its recognition under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.

The college was founded originally under the name Ahmedabad Arts and Science College at the Gheekanta campus in old walled city, in the heart of Ahmedabad. Steeped in history and tradition the college flourished to be further segregated into two separate entities: Ahmedabad Arts College and Ahmedabad Science College.

With the changing academic scenario in 1981 commerce faculty was also introduced to meet the educational needs, thus renaming the college as Ahmedabad Arts and Commerce College. However, the campus for Arts faculty was shifted to the Vasna area thereby effectively coordinating and functioning between two distanced premises.

Nonetheless after three decades the college was gradually but entirely shifted to the Vasna campus in June 2011. Currently, Dr. M. R. Prajapati (Associate Professor) from Department of English heads the esteemed institute as Principal in-charge. Thriving in a sprawling area of about 4828. 13 sq. meters, the Vasna Campus boasts of almost 2000 students at under graduate level.

Located in the prime area the vicinity caters to the academic needs of not only Ahmedabad city but also of nearby villages from Sanand, Bavla and Dholka Talukas.
