All India Institute of Medical Science Bhubaneswar was established on July 16, 2012, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee laid the foundation stone of AIIMS Bhubaneswar on July 15, 2003. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has a campus spread across 100 Acres.

This institution was established as an autonomous institution and institute of national importance through the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance passed in 2012. All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar is in Sijua, Patrapada, Odisha. It was established with the aim of delivering high standard education in the field of medicine.
