Government First Grade College for Women located in the scenic town of Madikeri was started in the year 2013 only with the noble objectives of offering higher education for women only. This affiliated college, located close to K. M. Cariappa Circle, occupies as small an area as 2 acres, yet it gives a conducive atmosphere for learning to its students.
The total number of students currently enrolled at the institute is 144 and the institute has a faculty of 18 members, teaching staff, trainers and advisors. The college presently has two undergraduate courses that show a clear vision of the institution in relation to the offering of arts and commerce. Government First Grade College for Women, Madikeri has developed a number of facilities that supplement the learning process of their students. From the Academic point of view, Government First Grade College for Women, Madikeri offers two full time Under graduate programmes. There are two undergraduate programs each with 40-intake capacity and they are; BA in History, Economics, and Political Science -Bache lers, and B. Com .
These are three-year programs whose goal it is to provide the student with all the necessary background knowledge and skills in their chosen program in order to be ready to seek employment upon the completion of the education process or in case if the student plans to continue his or her education in the university, to be ready to face the demands of the future learning.
