Government Pharmacy College, East Sikkim

Government Pharmacy College Rumtek The institution was established in 2018, and this college is located in the eastern part of Sikkim, India. This affiliated college that is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education focuses on pharmaceutical education.

This college, for the complete pharmacist, has a total student intake of 124 and a total of 8 faculty, and it also provides co-educational facilities. At the moment, the institute has only a single programme of study, the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma), which exhibits the institute’s specialisation in pharmaceutical education and training.

The college has installed several infrastructures to accommodate the student’s education and growth. The library occupies more than 150 sq. m and contains over 1,500 books, and it uses an open access to accommodate students’ needs. Hostel facilities of the college are available for both male and female students so that comfortable facilities are provided during college time.

The institution also accords much importance to modern technology through its well-developed IT facility. The campus is wireless enabled, and the computer labs are fully operational with respect to the support of digital learning as well as to internet connectivity. This increases students’ knowledge and their practical skills, which will help them fit into the modern world of pharma.

Plus, colleges include an auditorium where different events, for example, seminars, may be held, which should also be noted. Government Pharmacy College, Rumtek, currently offers one full-time course: the B. Pharma ( Bachelor of Pharmacy ) programme. This four-year degree programme has an approved capacity to enrol 60 students every academic year. As for the current time, the college is in its stages of development.

With a total of 124 students of all years, the college offers a specialised academic preparation for the pharmaceutical industry. Due to reduced class sizes, there is the possibility that students will receive more individual attention and may engage in ‘touch and feel’ practices that might be very useful in a practical area of study such as pharmacy.

This paper aims to highlight the admission process of the Government Pharmacy College, Rumtek, for its B. Pharma programme. The college probably takes into account previous academic performance in relevant programmes and probably demands results from entrance tests.
