Government Polytechnic College Chekkanurani was established in the year 2013. The government polytechnic college is situated in A. Kokkulam Village, Chekkanurani, Madurai, Tamil Nadu and is approved with the AICTE code. There are overall 5 diploma programs which the institute provides in different disciplines of engineering and a total intake of 706 students.

The faculty of GPC Chekkanurani at present has a team of 6 members and has been churning out quality technical manpower for engineers. The college also has specializations within its programmes in Civil , Computer, Electrical & Electronics , Electronics & Communication, and Mechanical disciplines . The institute has an aggregate approved intake of 300 for all its courses as the number of admitted students in each course offered by the institute is 60. These courses are three years diploma courses that focus on basic engineering disciplines enabling students to have a sound knowledge of their engineering disciplines.
