Government Polytechnic College, Vandiperiyar came into existence in the year 1998. The college is located in Kumily, Idukki District of Kerala. Accredited by AICTE, this affiliated college is delivering quality education on engineering and technology. Located in a 10 acres land, this institute has total intake capacity at 312 students and total faculty members at 12.

At present, the college runs three diploma courses namely, Computer Engineering , Electronics Engineering as well as Computer Application and Business Management . Its focus area is technical education, and that is why Government Polytechnic College, Vandiperiyar has a great importance for those students who want to become engineers in the future.

Government Polytechnic College, Vandiperiyar, aims to make sure that adequate learning conditions among learners and this is one factor the institute has put into consideration to provide the following facilities. The college library is spacious which occupies about one thousand six hundred square feet of space and contains four thousand books, six newspapers, nine journals, and nine periodicals.

It works with the Dewey Decimal Classification system; proclaimed fully automated, and is in the process of digitisation. The college also provides well correlated practical learning with laboratories, strong IT infrastructure needed for modern education and sports facilities for the overall personality development of the students.

A special auditorium for holding different kinds of events and seminars as well as the cafeteria for serving the necessary food for the employees and students are situated on the territory of the campus. Government Polytechnic College, Vandiperiyar, consist of a total of three three-year full-time diploma courses. It has a total student intake capacity of 164 seats in these programmes combined.

The courses are planned in such manner that they give students both the strong base of theoretical knowledge and sets of practical skills necessary for successful employment within their chosen area.
