Government Polytechnic Gadag was established in the year 2008 and this college is affiliated to Director of Technical Education Bangalore. Situated in Narasapur, Gadag-Betigeri, Karnataka, this institute has grown as a pioneer institute to serve technical education. Located on a campus of over five acres the polytechnic provides four diploma courses in various branches of engineering.
The student enrolment on an average stands at 363 and the faculty: student ratio is quite impressive as the institute has 12 faculty pouring knowledge on to the students. The Government Polytechnic has developed a number of infrastructure amenities intended to improve the learning environment for students.
A library stores about 800 of technical course oriented books and allows 30-40 students to study calmly and rephoenix. Technological support comes from IT while the department-based laboratories are important learning facilities crucial for engineering programmes. In this regard, the students having physical challenges, the institute has hostel accommodations for both male and females.
Particularly the girls’ hostel has 8 big rooms, large dining hall and other amenities including; particularly targeting students from Rural areas. This in addition to the facility to play chess, carrom and other indoor games the institute has playgrounds for other outdoor games to ensure complete development of the students.
Government Polytechnic, Gadag has a total of four full time diploma courses that has a tenure of three years each. These programmes cover key engineering disciplines: such as Civil engineering , Computer Science and engineering electronics & telecommunication , electronics and communication engineering and mechanical engineering.
Every section to a course has been approved for an intake of 60 students, making the total number of vacancies in all the programmes to be 240. This selection of concepts enables a student to pick a course of study within his field of interest and or particular profession.
