Government Polytechnic, Koppal

Government Polytechnic, Koppal was started in the year 1996, and it is an affiliated college situated at Koppal, Karnataka. This is an AICTE approved institute which provides education in engineering specialized diploma courses. Located on a large piece of land of 25. 15 acres, the polytechnic has accumulated in total 289 students, as well as 20 members of the faculty.

The institute offers three full time diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics & communication Engineering . In keeping with its mission statement of providing technical education, the Government Polytechnic in Koppal would create and deliver courses that would help students better prepare for their careers.

Another distinctive feature at the institute is that care for students’ health as well as different services for their personal and academic improvement. Accommodation facilities available in the campus include comfortable class rooms and well equipped laboratories for practical session in almost all disciplines of engineering.

More than 6,800 books including, magazine, and journal libraries are available in a comprehensive library to meet the students’ academic expectation. The polytechnic’s IT arm make sure that students get expose to modern technology and technological tools. Accommodation in different hostels for males and female students safe and conducive to accommodation.

Other facilities include; a food court which sells different types of foods, a shop for purchase of day–to–day necessities, and a clinic that has nearest aid services. There are also provided sport facilities and it contribute to the improvement of physical exertishments as well as recreational activities among students. Currently Government Polytechnic, Koppal provides three, three year full time diploma courses.

The institute has been approved to admit 180 students in all courses with each course admitting 60 students. The students who complete these diploma programs are expected to possess a sound understanding of their respective engineering disciplines to enable them practice professionally, or pursue other higher levels of education.

The admission process for Government Polytechnic, Koppal is kept under the control of the Department of Technical Education (DTE) of Karnataka. Any candidate who wishes to seek admission into the first year of any diploma course must write the general entrance examination for Government and Aided Polytechnics.
