There are five courses which are being taught at Hakim Syed Ziaul Hasan Government Autonomous Unani Medical College and Hospital out of which there are two graduate courses and three post graduate courses.

These are intended to produce broad spectrum professionals to meet different specialisations of Unani system of medicine. The flagship programme is the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery ( BUMS ) which is a six year full time course for a strength of 75 students.

For those who are interested in pharmaceutical aspects of Unani system of medicine there is a two years Diploma in Unani Pharmacy affiliated to the college with an intake of 50. At the postgraduate level, the institution provides three specialised MD programmes-: Tahaffuziwa Samaji Tib after 3 years, Ilaj bit Tadabeer and after 3 years Amraze Jildw Tazeeniyat.

The management of Hakim Syed Ziaul Hasan Government Autonomous Unani Medical College and Hospital admits qualified students in into the programmes and courses offered in the college. The process of admission varies depending on the course but for the BUMS programme there is a merit and entrance examination.
