Hirakud, Hirakud College was established in 1979 and it is affiliated college situated in Sambalpur Odisha. Occupying 10 acres of land this institution has provided the region with education services for over 40 years. Currently, the college only has two programmes for undergraduate with the college’s total student enrolment is 692 and 22 faculty members.

Hence the college lacks any accreditation and ranking but for arts and commerce streams the college provide good education. Hirakud College provides a range of facilities to improve the qualify of student’s life. A modern university library carries out several functions for those who study or teach at a university: it is an important source of knowledge.

The institution therefore appreciates the role of technology in current society and students’ learning, having developed outstanding IT facilities. To the sports freaks, the college fulfills this desire as they have sporting amenities as well as a gym. In order to promote practical learning, the college is having departmental laboratories.

However, it is worth to note that Hirakud College have arranged accommodation for both male and female for students who live far from the College in the form of hostel. Hirakud College currently offers two full-time undergraduate programmes: The under graduate programmes are Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com).

All these programmes have been approved to admit 96 students, thus increasing the total number of available seats to 192. The duration of both courses is three years with competition and complex knowledge being the hallmark of the programme. Still, as the college central to these two programmes, it shows its concern with the quality of humanities and business studies.
