Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology was recognised in 2009 which is an affiliated college of the Panjab University, Chandigarh. This is specialised premier institute situated in the capital city of Chandigarh that proffers higher learning in the narrowest of specialisations, Forensic Science and Criminology.

The institute is a relatively young centre for forensic education however, it provides postgraduate and doctoral study. The institute has 4 employees among them 4 dedicated professionals in faculty that offers an optimal learning environment for the students interested in the field of forensic science and criminal investigation.

Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology also has departmental laboratories which are important for practical lessons in the forensic practices. Offering practical experience, these laboratories provide an opportunity to use practical applications after gaining basic knowledge.

Sc is a two years full time programme with an approved intake capacity of 21 students that enable sufficient student-faculty interaction and emphasised training.
