The Institute of Human Resources Development, in Trivandrum, was started in 1987 as an autonomous institution which offers qualifying education in various technical and professional disciplines. IHRD was established in the year 1979 and has been providing trained human resources for the nation from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The institute has various courses, such as diplomas and postgraduate diplomas, in order to meet the emerging market demand. Over the years IHRD has been able to carve a niche for itself as a technical educational institution owing to its policy of quality and learning-orientated education.

Institute of Human Resources Development, Trivandrum, has quite a number of amenities that facilitate learning among its students. The official library of the institute has every convenience to supply students with a large amount of the reference stock of literature.

Besides, to facilitate experiential learning, IHRD has functional departmental laboratories through which students can practise what they learn in class. Institute of Human Resources Development provides a total of 7 courses , which are offered in 3 degree levels, and all are full-time programmes.

The diploma courses are Diploma in Computer Applications , Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain, Diploma in Data Entry Techniques and Office Automation , and Diploma in Computerised Financial Accounting. There are also advanced technology courses such as Embedded Systems , Biomedical Engineering, etc.

The institute admits 40 students for each of its courses, showing that class sizes are well regulated for the presentation of quality education. This way of operation permits one-on-one contact or group sessions, which enhances student learning and understanding.
