Junior College of Education, which was set up in 1949, is still functioning as an autonomous institution situated at Rahimatpur, in Maharashtra district. This is a co-educational institute that is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (N. C. T. E. ) to have the provision of quality education in teacher education only.

The college is well equipped to teach its aspirant teachers through a Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed. ) course. The institute has the capacity of taking 36 students in total with a faculty of 4, which makes it to offer a well-concentrated atmosphere. Junior College of Education has many facilities to include in the learning process of the students to make the best results.

A good library resource centre, on the other hand, acts as a knowledge base and provides resources relevant to the novice teacher. Tessmann & Wihlborg pointed out that the college has an importance of features of physical education; sports facilities are provided in the college to have a holistic development approach.

In order to meet the current requirements needed for education, the institute has sought to procure good IT equipment. Facilities include laboratories for practical lessons that are essential for practical teacher education. The college also offers hostel facilities for the hosteling of boys and girls students to have a comfortable stay.

Junior College of Education, Rahimatpur, aims to prepare quality teachers to meet the demand of teachers around the state through the D. El. Ed. course. This course takes two years full time, and it’s aim is to prepare students for the Erie-Middle Childhood Education. This programme has an approved intake of 30 students for this program and thus comprises a better students’ teacher ratio.
