KR College of Education, Dindigul, is an affiliated college situated in Tamil Nadu, India, which was set up in 2009. Located on 10 acres of land, this co-ed college is established to produce educators of the future. The college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to sponsor the teacher education programmes.
The total enrolment of KR College of Education is 116, and the college has a strength of 6 faculties, which provides it with an appropriate size. The institution currently offers only one course programme, as detailed below: a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed. ) with a specialisation in Teacher Training.
The college is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It possesses ample facilities that can help in improving the educational process as well as the students ‘all-around personalities.
There are playgrounds/sports grounds that are well maintained for occasions for track and field, tennis, table tennis, hockey, volleyball, basketball, cricket, and indoor shuttle. An ultramodern auditorium with a capacity of 1,500 students is used for educational purposes as well as for holding cultural activities.
The college library includes more than 10,000 books and reference materials with a focus on the educator’s profession. However, the institution provides adequate facilities and services, such as up-to-date laboratories, a health centre/dispensary, a gym, and proper facilities that may help in the development of the students.
KR College of Education, at the present stage, has only one full-time degree programme, which is the Bachelor of Education ( B. Ed. ) programme. The two-year programme is recognised to admit 100 students per academic year. The course of B. Ed. is aimed at providing the students with competencies towards the teaching profession in different institutions.
The admission procedure followed at KR College of Education is merit-based as per the rules and regulations of the state government and the university to which it is affiliated. Candidates are selected on merit in the qualifying examination and or entrance examination, where applicable.
