Mar Baselios College of Education, Wayanad

The Mar Baselios College of Education was started in the year 2005 to provide educational leadership in the Wayanad region. This co-educational college is situated at Sulthan Bathery, Kerala, over an area of 5. 436 acres of land. As an affiliated college, it has attained recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to maintain the quality standards of teacher education.

There are two specialised courses with 196 students in total and 16 faculty members in the institute. Mar Baselios College of Education has a reputation for producing proficient educators in a proper teaching learning context. Ed programme with 100 admission capacity has a duration of two years and aims to produce professional secondary and higher secondary teachers. Similar in structure and specifics to other D. El. Ed programmes, a course for fifty students and with a two-year duration, are aimed at preparing teachers of primary education.

These two programmes are aimed at producing competent and qualified students in the area of specialisation. The college has realised a total enrolment of 196 students, which enhances the provision of adequate student-teacher ratios in the college. Based on marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance test, admissions into Mar Baselios College of Education are granted. Concerning the B.

Ed programme, the college follows an admission policy that has been provided by the State Government/UT Administration and the affiliated University. Likewise, in the case of the D. Ed admission, eligibility criteria, calculated on merit, to be consistent with the rules set by the state government/ UT administration, are strictly followed.
