Millia Institute of Technology Purnea is the first institute of engineering in the Seemanchal region. Millia Institute of Technology was founded in 2002 by Millia Educational Trust (MET). MIT Purnea is recognised by the government of Bihar. The Millia Institute of Technology Purnea is affiliated with Bihar Engineering University, Patna and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Delhi.

The admission to the courses of MIT Purnea is through the Bihar BCECE entrance test for candidates of Bihar State and for candidates of non-Bihar State, admission is done on the basis of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by C. B. S. E. , New Delhi.
