Nalanda Science and Commerce College, Katni

Nalanda Science and Commerce College is an affiliated college established in the year of 2008 at Jhinjhari, Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Located in a 4 acres of land area this institution is authorised by NCTE or National Council for Teacher Education thus supports quality learning in the teaching profession. The college currently offers two full-time courses: The Faculty offers Bachelor of Education (B.

Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) with a total sanctioned strength of students 192. The college has a faculty of 14 committed teachers, thus ensure that the college has a good standard student-teacher ratio. Nalanda Science and Commerce College has a number of amenities that support students in improving their learning facilities.

A well-stocked library is important because it is the source of books where a learner needs to look for knowledge required to execute projects or assignments. For physical development and recreation purposes, there are students athletic facilities in form of sports activities for all individuals.

The college also has an auditorium for holding various events, seminars, etc encouraging extra curricula activities and debates. Nalanda Science and Commerce College provides two courses in the stream of education mainly. The Bachelor of Education (B. Ed), a two year full–time course is approved for 100 ad missions only.

This programme intended for the preparation of human resource to teach at secondary and higher secondary level. There is Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) which is a full-time course for two years, to prepare teachers for primary and upper primary section.

Both courses are very specifically designed to equip the candidate with a sound theoretical background as well as teaching skills which the NCTE norms espouse. The selection criteria at Nalanda Science and Commerce College are-derived from marks scored in exams and entrance test as provided by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh and as prescribed by the affiliated university. As for the admission in both B.

Ed and D. El. Ed programmes, it is normally based on the merit of the relevant qualifying examination.
