Panihati Mahavidyalaya, Sodepur

Panihati Mahavidyalaya, established in the year 1976, is an affiliated college with a campus on one acre in Sodepur, Kolkata, West Bengal. The compactly fitted campus within a 1-acre area has served the purpose of this institution in disseminating education within the region. The institution is accredited by NAAC for offering quality education.

This is one of the co-educational Mahavidyalayas under Panihati, which offers highly divergent undergraduate programs spread across Arts, Commerce, and Science streams, with 1,214 students enrolled in all courses and a faculty strength of 56. It has quite a number of facilities to offer to its students to add to their learning experience.

At the center of all these amenities is the Central Library, which stocks more than 15,000 books and 10 journals. The library has recently been automated with the KOHA system and is functional in dispensing resources to students and faculty efficiently. The institution has well-equipped departmental laboratories for hands-on learning.

There is also a spacious auditorium on the campus with a capacity to hold 300 seats, which provides the setting for many cultural and academic activities. The institution has a canteen, a health center with first-aid facilities, sports facilities, and opportunities for a balanced college life.

The college moved on to the modern technology through provisions for Wi-Fi connectivity and excellent IT infrastructure to make the digital learning initiatives come alive. At the undergraduate level, Panihati Mahavidyalaya offers a wide range of undergraduate courses with a total of 20 different courses.

It offers a wide range of programs, from full-time courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce to various specialized honors courses. The student intake capacity is pretty high, 640 for BA, 230 for BSc , and 160 for BCom. It offers four-year honours courses with a research component in subjects like Bengali, English, Political Science, History, and Education, with an intake of approximately 60-80 students in each.
