Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital, Chamba, founded in 2016, is considered as a new medical facility situated in the area of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and it has risen fast to the ranks of the important college for medical education in the region.
The college has total enrolment as 320 and faculty of 82 providing the best ambience to the future medical professionals. Its focused approach bears evidence to the institution’s commitment to quality education. At present, the institution offers only one programme, the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital has several classy facilities that help in improving learning environment of the students as well as their total welfare. It has different hostel facilities for boys and girls, to improve students’ comfort while studying from different regions of the country.
The presence of an efficient library for the students is one of the significant knowledge providers for the students through the medical literature available. It also pay’s great attention to health concerns, especially of the students, and provides athletic recreation for a sound body. Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital, Chamba, provides only MBBS course and it is a full-time course.
This programme takes six years and has an approved yearly admission capacity of 120 students hence considering it a competitive course to join in order to become a doctor. The college is also specialiSed on one specific programme so all the available resources are directed to delivering quality education to its medical students.
MBBS and BDS admission process in India is followed as per the NEET-UG scores and this college is also follow the same process for students admission. This national-level examination is the only criterion for issuing admission and eliminates favouritism while recruitment.
