RIT or Rourkela Institute of Technology was established in the year 1984 is one of the premier institutes in Orissa situated at Rourkela. This affiliated college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) having diverse technical & management programmes. RIT Rourkela is a small campus spread over a mere 2. 5 acres of land.

The said institute offers 8 courses spread out over 3 degree levels which include engineering, computer applications, and management studies. There is ample provisions available in the institute to complement student learning with various kinds of facilities. As a valued resource to students and academic, the library offers more than 30 000 books, journals and audiovisual items for research and curriculum needs.

RIT Rourkela has modern day IT facilities which include two spacious air conditioned computer laboratories with merged capacity of 150 nodes for accessing internet and computing facility including internet facility including Wi-Fi enabled campus. As for the living accommodations, the college has available hostels for boys and girls separately thus students enjoy living in safe and favourable environments.
