Saraswati Shiksha Mahavidyalaya, Mandsaur, was established in 2005 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. This college of learning occupies a twelve point sixty two acre plot and is committed to the preparation of teachers It is a recognized institution acknowledged by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

At present, the college provides two full time courses for a total enrolment of 191 students and is staffed by full time a faculty of 15 members. SSM particularly focuses teaching area and provides Bachelor of Education (B. Ed. ) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed. ) course.

Saraswati Shiksha Mahavidyalaya has a variety of amenities that primary education students may require thus facilitating their learning process. A library plays the role of an information centre because it offers a range of educational resources to the student. In the area of practical learning, the college has fully stocked laboratories essential for most of the depots in the college.

The student who wish to make use of sports facilities to keep fit or engage in sporting activities will find them provided for. The college also boast of an auditorium used in occasions, seminars and other college functions and activities. In order to meet modern educational necessitates, Saraswati Shiksha Mahavidyalaya is equipped with the best IT facilities.

As an added extra for students and staff the college offers the facility of a cafeteria within the college premises. Also, there are guestrooms or waiting rooms for use by visiting faculty and family members of students. There is also a health centre in the college for treatment of students and contains all basic facilities of a first aid kind.

Saraswati Shiksha Mahavidyalaya provides two basic facilities in the stream of education. B. Ed programme is a two year full professional course with an approved annual intake capacity of one hundred students. The D. El. Ed programme which is another two-year full time course which has an intake capacity of fifty students aims at producing teachers required for primary and upper primary classes.

Each of these programmes are designed to integrate academic content knowledge and teaching strategies which prepare graduates for future responsibilities of being teachers. Saraswati Shiksha Mahavidyalaya offers admission on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination and/ or any entrance test. With regard to the B.

Ed programme, admission are made according to the policy fixed by the state Government/UT administration and the university. Coming to the admission of the D. El. Ed programme, admissions prescribed as per the rules and regulation of the State Government/UT administration. This way it is possible to reverse the situation and give deserving candidates the opportunity to cultivate their teaching dream in the college.
