The school of studies in electronics and photonics was set up in 1994 as a constituent school of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur. Established at Amanaka G. E. Road, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, this institute is devoted to electronics and photonics learning. It is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education, abbreviated as AICTE, in order to encourage standard technical education.

Tech programme in Opto Electronics and Laser Technology is possible to join through GATE or through an entrance test done by the university.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ( GATE ) is one of the exams where the institute accepts the scores for this programme.
