Shakuntalam Institute of Teacher Education, Rohtas

Shakuntalam Institute of Teacher Education, Rohtas was established in the year 2015. This is a co-educational affiliated college located in Sasaram, the state of Bihar. The said institute, permitted by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), runs teacher education courses. This institute occupies a compact 1-acre campus and has a total enrolment of 359 students with a strength of 31 faculty members.

Shakuntalam Institute provides two full-time courses in Education that would help aspiring teachers in their endeavour to become skilled educators of tomorrow. Different facilities in the campus support students for the learning process. It is a great collection of books and non-book materials on various aspects of Education along with its philosophy, psychology, and history.

The ICT Resource Centre and Computer Laboratory form part of the key infrastructure of the Institute, integrating technology in the teaching-learning process. Students are encouraged to make full use of the facilities in lesson planning and delivery, development of ICT-related instructional materials, and making interactive presentations related to the school experience programs.

There are six spacious classrooms in Shakuntalam Institute of Teacher Education, with a seating capacity of 50 learners in each, which are furnished with basic furniture and fitted with modern teaching aids like LCD projectors and OHPs. This Institution offers two major courses: Bachelor of Education and Diploma in Elementary Education.

The former course is of two years full-time duration and the latter of two years, too, with an approved intake of 100 students. In these programs, the institution lays much emphasis on teacher education, hence opening up bright prospects for employment at both primary and secondary levels of education. 100 Admission to Shakuntalam Institute of Teacher Education is strictly on the basis of merits, with marks obtained in the qualifying and/or entrance examination. The institute will be following the admission policy framed by the state government of Bihar and the affiliated university.
