Shiv Shankar Institute of Engineering and Technology was set up in 2004 at Patti in Punjab. This affiliated college, which is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), disseminates a variety of engineering programmes. Located in a vast area of 13. 43 acres, Shiv Shankar Institute of Engineering and Technology has a total strength of 134 students and 23 faculty members.
There are a total of 5 courses offered in two degree programmes in the institute, and they focus on different fields of engineering. The library, which is a resource centre for learning, has 21,322 books and 104 educational national/local and international journals and has the capacity to seat 200 students at a time. The hostels for boys and girls which are available in Shiv Shankar Institute of Engineering and Technology are well furnished and offer enough utility spaces, such as an activity area, TV lounge, dining hall, etc.
The prerequisite facilities which support the campus include well-equipped engineering laboratories such as electronics, mechanical, and computer/computer labs. Sports lovers can have access to different indoor and outdoor games with the professional trainers training the athletes. Transport facilities are also arranged by the institute, with 25 buses having services to and fro all across Punjab for the day scholars.
At present, Shiv Shankar Institute of Engineering and Technology provides a total of 5 courses, out of which there are four full-time B. Tech courses and one full-time M. Tech course. The B. Tech courses offered are Computer Science and Engineering , Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering . The M. Tech programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering .
The total approved intake for all the courses is 168 students, and the maximum intake allowed for B. Tech CSE is 60. The admission policy of Shiv Shankar Institute of Engineering and Technology is centralised through Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, to which it is affiliated. For B.
Tech programmes, the major intakes are through the Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE Main ), conducted at the national level by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
