SR Kanthi College of Education, Ilkal

SR Kanthi College of Education is an ICSE-recognised teacher training institute founded in 1986 in the Ilkal district of Karnataka. This is a co-educational college and has received recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which provides quality education to teachers.

Located in a vast area of 35 acres of land, the college has been successfully accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which proves its concern about the educational quality of the institution. The campus has computers with internet connections; hence, the students can access the internet. Other facilities include health, with a first aid centre to address the health needs of the college compounds.

The college also has hostels for boys and girls to accommodate outstation students on a neat and clean campus. Teacher education is the prime area of operation of SR Kanthi College of Education, which offers a single full-time course, namely the Bachelor of Education ( B. Ed. ) programme.

This includes a two-year degree programme that has an approved capacity of 100 students for those who want to work in the field of education. The B. Ed. is offered to prepare students with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective practice in school as teachers. Even though the college now has only one degree programme, it is a long and intensive study of this particular branch.

The admission procedure of SR Kanthi College of Education is standard, based on the norms of the state government and the university where the college is affiliated. Admissions are usually done during and after the completion of the qualifying examination as well as the entrance examination. The college may also use other techniques of staffing in consideration of the directives from the Karnataka state government.
