Sri Adhisankarar Teacher Training Institute, the teacher training institute in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, produces future educators. The co-educational institution was established in the year 2007 and has been developing teachers for more than a decade. It covers an area of 6. 16 acres and provides a focused learning environment for the potential educators.

Although the institute is small, this institution has an enviable student-faculty ratio of 3 students and 6 faculty members in the institution while imparting quality education and personal attention to the students. Sri Adhisankarar Teacher Training Institute is proud of the well-equipped facilities which support the comprehensive development of the teacher trainees.

There are very spacious laboratories where the trainees can exercise and conduct experiments in physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology to equip them for practical classroom teaching. Knowledge treasures, hundreds of books on various subjects, periodicals, reference books, newspapers, and government publications are available in the library.

A big playground is also available for physical development and recreation purposes wherein outdoor sports like football and kho-kho are conducted besides indoor games. The institute also has an auditorium for organising events and seminars along with good IT infrastructure and a health centre with first-aid facilities.

At present, the Sri Adhisankarar Teacher Training Institute provides only one primary course, which is Diploma in Elementary Education ( D. El. Ed ). The full-time course is for two years and has an approved intake of 50 students. The D. El. Ed course is to equip the student to take on teaching as a calling at the elementary school level with all the skills and knowledge that are prerequisites for effective teaching.

Admission procedure at Sri Adhisankarar Teacher Training Institute: Admission process is guided by the policies of the state government as well as the UT administration. Admission process goes strictly merit-based with marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. However, the institute may follow other selection procedures according to the policy of the government.
