Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and Research centre Chennai was established in 2001 is an exemplary medical college in the field of Siddha medicines. It is an affiliated college in West Tambaram- Chennai and is approved by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM). It occupies a vast area of 200 acre making it have adequate infrastructure to fathom good learning and research.

The college has a total enrolment of 284 students and a faculty of 28, hence the college has good student /teacher ratio. The Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College provides only one course named, Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery which is a traditional medical course.

Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and Research centre has put in place faculties to supplement teaching of its students and one can attest that the college has recognised facilities. The library being spread over 5000 sqft area contains over 10000 books and 15 national & international journals including books on Siddha & Modern Medicine.

This also includes library that has 25 computers and also direct high broadband connection. The campus is provided with modern practical learning laboratories, mechanical hours’ comfortable class rooms with technological teaching aids, and internet facility through Wireless Fidelity. To help the students, the college runs 136 buses providing transport facility in around 115 routes in Chennai.

The institution also places student welfare by having separated hostels for boys and girls; the Former boasts of 581 beds, while the latter has only 276 and is built on a total area of 20, 529 sq. meters. Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and Research Centre currently has only one programme – the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery ( BSMS ).

This is a full course programme takes six years to complete and has an approved student capacity of fifty students. The study programme of the BSMS helps students get the necessary set of knowledge and practical skills in the field of Siddha medicine, and successfully work in this direction.

Although this is a specialised college, students learn a balance of the traditional practice of Siddha as well as conventional medical practices. The rules and regulation of Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and Research Centre follows the pattern of admission fixed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
