Srinivas college of Education Mangaluru was established in the year 2004 as an affiliated college, Intended to develop future teachers. This institution, situated in Pandeshwar, Mangalore, has emerged as one the prominent institutions in the country to offer teacher education.

The college is recognised from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which means that the college is in conformity with the basic criterion set up at the national level. The college currently has a faculty of 10 highly qualified professional teachers that teach 3 courses of 2 degree levels, namely B. Ed. and Ph. D.

The fact that this institute offers a variety of courses and has extended its concentration to both full-time and part-time learner categories best supports the institute’s touted quality education. This college has available a number of amenities that it considers will improve the learning environment for its learners.

A rich book library with literature, 14 national and international journals, magazines, and newspapers contribute to the knowledge centre of intending teachers. The commitment to use of technology is manifested in a computerised laboratory equipped with internet facilities for updating the students on modern technology in teaching methods.

For a rounded development, the college provides sports grounds and a gymnasium. The campus also has an auditorium for events and seminars to ensure campus is alive with academic activities. Staff and students are provided with a canteen to cover their culinary requirements and a health centre inclusive of first aiders in case of accidents.

Yet it expands the convenience of commuting for students and staff of the transport facility available in the college. In its repertoire, the Srinivas College of Education provides three courses altogether to students, for different levels of education. These are 1 full-time programme and 2 part-time courses so flexibility is offered to anyone who wants to be a teacher. The B.

Ed course, the college’s flagship programme, has an approved admission limit of one hundred, which suggests the college’s ability to produce the right number of teachers in the country each year. Besides the undergraduate programme, the college has full-time and part-time Ph. D. programmes in education for students who wish to pursue academic and research careers.

On this note, Srinivas College of Education provides a fair way of admitting students to the college. For the B. Ed. programme , the government quota seats are admitted through the Central Admission Cell (CAC) of the government of Karnataka through counselling. They increase the management seats through the merit of a common entrance examination that is set by the university.

This means that the college had a blend of governmental-dictated admission and the college's own admission policies. The college is evidently very keen on ensuring that it has a strong alumni base, which is why it has a Registered Alumni Association for the 2013-14 academic year.

Alumni meets are held every year on the 13th of February, in which senior alumni’s get a chance to share their work experience and expertise with the senior students and thus provide a better learning opportunity and career scope for the institution’s potential teachers.
