St Mary's College, Shirva

Shirva is an affiliated college in Udupi, Karnataka, founded in 1980 and named St. Mary’s College. Although this institution is vast with a 3. 51 acre of land, it is fully accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college currently has 638 students and 24 members of faculty to teach undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees.

The college has, at present 260 boy and 274 girl students and it offers education up to 5 different courses such as Arts, Commerce, and Computer Applications. St. Mary's College is affiliated with Mangalore University, Mangalore. St. Mary’s College aims at offering a good platform through which learning activities are conducted in well equipped facilities.

The library forms a core part of academic facilities and has a collection of approximately 20,000 books priced at Rs. 18 lakh. That adds up to several local and foreign daily newspapers, subject journals, and popular magazines, and an educational CD collection in digital format.

Technical students are rightly taken care of with two computer labs each with fifty six Computers, projectors and printing facilities for the students convenient. It also has multi-gym for athletes, accommodative 600 seater auditorium to support sporting and other activities within the college. St. Mary’s College has 3 full time courses in total with undergraduate and post graduate levels of study.

The under graduate programmes are BA, B. Com and BCA each of three years duration while post graduate programmes . College population in the academic year 2022 In the academic year, the college admitted 534 total students: 515 (96%) of them are undergraduate students and 19 (4%) of them are postgraduate students.

The college boasts of student ethnicity diversity since 96% of students are from the state, while about 4% from other states in the country.
