St Xavier College, Jalukie

St. Xavier College, Jalukie, affiliated with the Kalpollo University was started in the year 2005 in Peren, Nagaland. It is located in a spacious 40 acre area so as to make sure that the environment is conducive for learning. Fulfilling its educational vision and mission and its commitment to quality, the college has been granted accreditation status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

At present, St. Xavier College provides its students with intimate learning environment enroling 328 students and being staffed with 17 members of faculty. At present, it has 6 undergraduate courses in two programmes types under the specialisation of Arts disciplines. Some of the features at St.

Xavier College include a chapel, sports and recreational facilities, a modern library and ICT facilities for the lightning of knowledge. Sports club co-ordinated by two members is established in the college; annual college week is arranged by the club it takes part in intercollegiate tournaments and encourages children’s physical development and coming together.

Computer enthusiasts can opt for short term programmes or diploma in computer science with the help of 50 computers along with broadband connection at computer centre. The college library is an important section where different learning materials are stored, and the college auditorium is where functions such as functions, seminars and other are held.

As for the accommodation for the students, the college has separate hostel for boys and girls for students from different regions. The campus also has smart classes, laboratories that include personal growth lab and the campus has a canteen as well. The learning programmes at St. Xavier College mainly limit themselves to the Arts stream, with undergraduate courses being the major input.

The college provides following six full time courses, all at the Bachelor of Arts (BA) level. These include BA (General), BA English Honours , BA History Honours, BA Political Science Honours , BA Sociology Honours and BA Education Honours . The total number of students who are offered the courses is 328, whereas special courses admit 40 students each as approved.

Many of these courses include a broad spectrum of interests and it enables the students to study several area of humanities and social sciences. The admission process at St. Xavier College, Jalukie, therefore aims at being as direct as possible. The college has students of different gender with a close ratio of female students at 208 and male students at 175.
