State Lal Bahadur Shastri Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is one of the most prestigious educational homeopathic institutions. This affiliated college was set up in 1966, and has been training budding homeopaths for more than fifty years.
This college is recognised by the Central Council of Homeopathy which makes the college adhere to standard educational requirements of the country in the field of homeopathy. Enroling 195 students in total and having a highly skilled employees’ roster of 7 people, the institute provides individualised learning experience.
The college provides two courses : BHMS, Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery and MD Materia Medica for undergraduate and postgraduate levels in homeopathy. State Lal Bahadur Shastri Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, an affiliated college of Dr BR Ambedkar University, Agra , also has various learning facilities to support the learning strategies used to teach its learners.
There are adequate reasons to believe that, the library of the university is well stocked with number of latest Indian as well as foreign books and journals that can be used by the students for better understanding of their course curriculum. There are different hostels for male and female students from other towns to make them comfortable.
Regarding physical fitness enthusiasts, the college has a gym facility for those who believe in it. Sports facilities are also present to enhance the belief that students will only receive academic knowledge, but also physical training.
The college has centralised computer and IT networks and fully equipped laboratory to give student of today’s world today’s world necessary practical ideas and exposure to modern technology which is so familiar in the modern medical training. A health centre with basic first aid facilities, being a first line of attention to any sickness in students, is also available in the compound.
It runs two regular courses in homeopathic system of medicines The Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and The Postgraduate Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine. The BHMS course is of six years total with annual intake capacity of 125 students. Furthering a student’s education, the college provides the MD in Materia Medica which is a three year full time course with a total intake of thirteen students.
Both courses are tailor made to provide information and skills base related to use of homeopathic medication. The total enrolment of student for all courses offered is 195 because the college still remains consistent in its quest to increase the student intake while at the same time ensuring that the college offer quality education by maintaining a health student teacher ratio.
