Swami Vivekanand Post Graduate College of Education, Hamirpur, was established in the year 2000 in Tarkwari, Bhoranj, Himachal Pradesh. This is co-educational college, located on 2 acres of campus area, is an affiliated college recognised by the National council for Teachers Education[NCTE]. The institute is running three specialist courses in education with an overall admitted total of 253 students.

The college has a talented staff of 23 faculty members with excellent student-teacher ratios that enable the students to facilitate interactions with their tutors. The institution houses various programmes in the area of teacher training; B. Ed, M. Ed, as well as D. El. Ed to consider that prepares students to consider various roles in the educational sector.

Swami Vivekanand Post Graduate College of Education has installed many facilities in order to improve the learning conditions for the students. These amenities have a central library that stocks over 8,000 books and 34 national and international journals plus CD and online journals.

This contains common instruments used for the assessment of different psychological characteristics of individuals as well as tests for measuring laid down psychological variables The Language learning lab on the other hand has a seated capacity of 30 students, designed for nurturing special language skills.

Thus, Swami Vivekanand Post Graduate College of Education provides the needful three courses to meet educational requirements and to suit the different categories of employment desired. Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) programme is the primary focus of the college which is an undergraduate teacher training programme with an intake capacity of 200 students.

Continuing with postgraduate studies, the Master of Education (M. Ed) programme enrols 50 students, to provide specialised knowledge and research in Education. secondly, there is Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) course to nurture a person to teach high school level for which there are 50 seats available.
