The Kavery College of Education for Women, Salem

The Kavery College of Education for Women, Salem, was inaugurated in 2006 and is one of the pioneer institutions for women to harness their talents in the field of education. This women-only college is situated in Mecheri, Salem, Tamil Nadu and is an affiliated college recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

It occupies sprawling 5-acre land with a compelling environment that is appropriate for learning. At present, it has 41 students and 12 faculty members to make sure that the students receive individual attention and quality education. Kavery College of Education for Women has two postgraduate programmes exclusive to education, hence offering specialised teacher training.

As I will show presently, the college has a host of modern facilities, which are instrumental in improving the learning environment of the students. Every established academic calendar would consist of qualified and experienced teaching staff, a well-equipped and adequately staffed Central Library, major national and international periodicals and project reports.

The purpose of this knowledge hub is to help build and share knowledge in all aspects of education. The campus has an advanced IT system in its operating infrastructure, together with wireless internet throughout the campus, making it convenient for the students to access computer-based information.

For students who want to teach, the college has departmental laboratory facilities that will ensure the students practise. They also have provisions to mould students in toto and a variety of indoor and outdoor games facilities available in the institution. There is also a fully equipped gym for people interested in bodybuilding and general fitness.

The college has a very large auditorium, which is used in conducting all occasions and seminars to ensure productivity in the institution. The Kavery College of Education for Women offers two full-time courses : Bachelor of Education and Master of Education , respectively. The B. Ed. programme offers an intake of hundred seats; on the other hand, the M. Ed. programme has an intake of fifty seats.

Both programmes take two years and offer education theory and practice as an institutional foundation. Focusing on these two core programmes of the college, it is possible to pay more attention to teacher education while graduating students who will later shape young people.

The Kavery College of Education for Women, an affiliated college of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai , follows an open admission policy that is precisely in line with the norms evolved by the state government, the UT administration, and the university to which the college is affiliated. The course of admission on the B. Ed.

programme is given by the marks of the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The M. Ed. programme takes into account the performance of the applicants’ first-degree results.

As for the particular dates of examinations, they are not given; however, the future student needs to monitor the college’s website or call the admission office to be informed about the dates of the exams as well as the dates of the application. This aspect of the college, therefore, takes the admission processes seriously in order to bring on board qualified and motivated learners.

A lot of details regarding scholarships are not highlighted but the school has various ways and means of assisting deserving students in their studies. As one of the premier institutions in teacher education, The Kavery College of Education for Women has a continued responsibility of delivering efficient graduates to meet perceived education demands in Tamil Nadu and in the global market.
