Vellalar College of Pharmacy, Erode

The Vellalar College of Pharmacy was established in 2018 in Erode, affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University. It is a relatively young college imparting education in the field of pharmacy. Situated at Maruthi Nagar, Thindal Post Erode, this affiliated college has emerged as one of the most promising institutions for pharmacy education.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) accredit the institute to meet national standards of pharmaceutical education. Currently the college admits about only 205 students for pharmacy and has a faculty of 34 members, which makes the college environment healthy for a nice growth of students and faculty.

Vellalar College of Pharmacy has several facilities that are up-to-date and are very useful in improving the college learning environment of the students. The modern service features superb computing facilities equipped with the most up-to-date software-free and open Internet access throughout the area of the campus.

The college library is a fully developed resource centre for the college students with over three thousand items, including books, journals, audiovisuals, and other items. Besides, the students and the faculty members make use of DELNET resources through online journal databases for carrying out their research work.

It also boasts of some well-equipped laboratories that share cardinal importance in the learning process and mimic leading institutions in Australia. It is the aim of Vellalar College of Pharmacy to produce a complete educational experience. There are comfortable hostels for boys and girls within the institution’s compound; thus, out-of-town students get to learn in a safe and convenient environment.

The college also pays much heed to games and gymnasiums, which are also essential parts of education, and it also provides gyms, playgrounds, etc. to it’s students.

Housing, a health centre, a computer laboratory, a cafeteria, Wi-Fi connectivity, and wired Internet, amongst others, when complemented by educational programmes that chase the college’s vision and mission, offer a balanced education process enabling students to prepare well for life in addition to preparing them for their professional practice in pharmacy.

The pharmacy field at Vellalar College of Pharmacy is currently provided through two basic courses as follows: The BHR course, or Bachelor of Pharmacy ( B. Pharma ), has an enrolment capacity of 60, and the DHR course, or Diploma in Pharmacy ( D. Pharma ), also has an equal enrolment capacity.

These programmes aim at building a competent cadre of students in pharmaceutical sciences in order to fit the dynamic markets of health care and pharmaceuticals. The college’s concentration on these fundamental course offerings provides for a specialisation in this important area of pharmacy.
