Vivekananda College of Pharmacy, also called as VCP, was started in 1983 and is one of the pioneer institutions in Bangalore, Karnataka. Located close to Orion Mall, on Dr. Rajkumar Road, this College is a co-educational institution, being a PCI-recognised affiliated college. Another school known as VCP provides educational programmes in pharmacy from diploma level, bachelor’s degree and master's level.
Located in an area of 1. 5 acres, the college thus provides total student intake of 337 and a faculty of 18 members. It is evident from the courses offered by VCP that Pharmaceutics offers 5 full-time programs at three degree levels to meet the specialisation needs in the pharma career field. The college offers all essentials and amenities necessary for students’ academic and personal development.
The laboratories available on campus include well-equipped instrumental analysis laboratory with standard analytical instruments like Fourier Transform infrared -Red spectrophotometer, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography systems, UV-visible spectrophotometers, etc.
advanced pilot plant for teaching and research purposes includes the GMP pilot tablet press, wet and dry granulators, and coating pans to enable the students practice on some of the best equipment.
VCP also owns separate hostel accommodations for students of its own gender, which provide large, neat, and clean rooms and kitchens for preparing hygienically for male and female students of the institution with the help of wardens. The college has a library for the student, and there is information technology where there is a computing laboratory, and there is wireless throughout the college.
All-round development is done by VCP offering sports complex, a gymnasium and conducting cultural events and programmes. There is health centre on campus that provides first aid and a cafeteria that addresses the nutrition needs of students and workers. Till now, Vivekananda College of Pharmacy has been offering five courses and all the programmes are full-time ones. These are Diploma in Pharmacy (D.
Pharma), Bachelor of Pharmacy ( B. Pharma ), B. Pharma Lateral Entry, and two Master of Pharmacy ( M. Pharma ) full-time specialisations. For all the courses on offer, the total approved intake is 210 seats. Admission to the various programmes of Vivekananda College of Pharmacy is well planned and laid out.
The college may also have certain standards and requirements in certain qualifying examinations used in offering certain courses in its institution. For the B. Pharma programme, students must complete their 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics subjects. The course of the D. Pharma is often similar, thus it is equally important. For M. Pharm.
programmes, candidates mostly require having a B. Pharm. degree from any recognised university.
