Located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, it is an institutional unit of Aligarh Muslim University in a small area of 4 acres, offering specialised courses in traditional medicine. The institution is approved by the Central Council for Indian Medicine. The faculty strength of the college is 64.
The institute boasts comprehensive facilities aimed at enhancing the overall development of the students. A 95-bed hospital occupies the central place in medical training through which budding practitioners are expected to get first-hand experience. The institution also has a well-stocked library and provides an atmosphere of continuous learning and research.

It also includes well-equipped laboratories, which are essential for practical training in the sphere of Unani medicine. Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College has courses oriented towards Unani medicine at the under-graduate and postgraduate levels. The undergraduate programme, its mainstay, is the BUMS , a full-time course of six years. Further specialisation is granted in the form of the college offering three postgraduate programmes: MD Ilmul Advia , MD Kulliyat, and MD Moalejat , each with 4 seats of intake.
These courses are aimed at turning out skilled practitioners and researchers in specific areas of Unani medicine. All of the above courses have a strict and absolutely merit-based admission procedure at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College. To get admission to the BUMS course, candidates have to clear NEET—a national-level medical entrance test. This ensures that the students who get admission are truly qualified for the same.
Admissions to postgraduate courses of MD are conducted via AIAPGET, which is an admission test pertaining to traditional medicine disciplines.
