Government College of Teacher Education, a teaching training college, was established in 1971 situated in Kokrajhar which plays huge role to shape the future of education system in Assam – India. This affiliated college stands in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), spreading over a beautiful area of 2. 8609 acres.

The institute, approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), offers two programmes in education: We offer the following educational programmes Bachelors degree in Education (B. Ed) and Masters degree in Education (M. Ed). The college has student enrolment of thirty students in a batch and a faculty of sixteen thus, it offers appropriate learning atmosphere to prospective teachers.

Co-educational nature of the institute clearly states the principle aim of offering quality education to the students. Government College of Teacher Education employs several state of the art facilities to facilitate education in a bid to advance students’ learning capability.

The aspect of such amenities is a digital library that has about 6,000 books and 12 encyclopedia sets, together with a large reading area that can hold 50 students. Each department in the campus is equipped with laboratories for students to carry out practical experiences. Facing challenges of the modern world, the college has developed good IT facilities.

For students’ health, there are sports facilities, so children and students can combine sports and studying. The college also has its separate hostel facilities for boys and girls separately for those students who they travel long distance.
