Akkalkuwa, Jamia College of Education for Boys and Girls started in 2004 and aims at producing future professional teachers. Affiliated to Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Akkalkuwa Maharashtra, it is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) therefore it offers quality education in the field of teaching.

Spread across a sprawling 11-acre campus, the college offers two full-time courses: Bachelors in Education (B. Ed) & Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed). Jamia College of Education started its journey only in 2007 – 08, it has total student intake of 100 and seven faculty members to provide the TD teaching philosophy.

There are numerous amenities in the college that are aimed at improving the learning process to students enroled to the college. Bookshelf stocked rich knowledge, and the departmental laboratory achieves the practical exercise situation. From this viewpoint, its commitment to the principles of modern education is proven by its first-rate IT resources.

For the overall personality development, Akkalkuwa, Jamia College of Education for Boys and Girls provides the competency of sports and gym. Several activities and seminars are held within an auditorium to ensure the campus is active. The college also pays concern to student’s welfare with health centre to help with first assistance.

Hostel facilities for the boys and girls are available to allow out station students to have a comfortable stay. A cafeteria provides food to everyone in the campus both the staff members and the students and guest rooms for occasional faculty and students’ families. Jamia College of Education teaches two main courses in the area of education. The Bachelor of Education (B.

Ed) is a two year full time course which has an approved sanitation of 50 Students. The other is the Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) which is also a two-year full – time programme and compliments B. Ed. The difference between the two courses is that while both seek to prepare students for teaching careers, each is structured with a specific approach used to teach the student.

Ed programme is strictly merit based, taking into account the percentage or grade point average of the qualification exam and or entry test as per the norms of state government of West Bengal.
