Medinipur Sadar Government Polytechnic was established in the year 2016. Located at Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, it is one of the premier technical institutions in the region. This government polytechnic is sprawled over 5 acres and imparts quality education in engineering. The institute has been approved by AICTE and has risen very fast as a nodal center for budding engineers.

With a total of 466 students enrolled, the polytechnic also had a faculty strength of 22, hence maintaining a good student/teacher ratio. It offers three full-time diploma programs in specializations of Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, catering to the wide and varied interest areas of technical education seekers. The polytechnic has various modern facilities backing its academic attempts.

Being the learning hub, it has a stock of about 7,000 books covering different titles and authors, besides the requisite journals. Being at par with them, it is also equipped with 10 multimedia PCs for online study, increasing the digital learning experience. It can boast of an excellent IT infrastructure, as the students must be well-prepared to face the challenges of a digital age.

Departmental-based laboratories provide practical experience, which is an integral part of technical education. At the institutional level, there are sports facilities and an auditorium for events, seminars, and guest lectures; hence, all facilities for overall development are provided.

A cafeteria caters to the culinary requirements of the students and staff, while a health centre with first-aid facilities looks after the well-being of the college community. Courses offered by Medinipur Sadar Government Polytechnic encompass a concentrated range of focused courses, and all of those are full-time Diploma courses.

The institute at present offers three diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering , and Mechanical Engineering. All of these programs have a sanctioned intake of 60 students each, adding to a total of 180 students in all streams of programs.

These are three-year diploma programs aimed at building very strong fundamental knowledge in respective branches so that students can have prosperous careers in the field of engineering.
