Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, Mokokchung

MCTE, started in 2012 is a premier teacher education college situated in Mokokchung, Nagaland, with the vision to produce quality teachers through effective teacher education. The college is affiliated with Nagaland University . This affiliated college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and is dedicated to Education for tomorrow.

MCTE is a small college occupying a small piece of land of 5 acres and therefore affords the student a central place of learning. The college at present has a 105 student strength with a 12-member staff team that is comparatively very good for a student-friendly environment. To this end, MCTE boasts of having well-equipped facilities that facilitate learning in a modern way.

The college also has a good library; it contains many books which make sure students are well-equipped with educational material. An auditorium as a central facility for events and seminars helps to develop thinking skills. In order to cover the aspect of physical development, MCTE provides for sporting amenities and even embraces the use of sports.

The college has come a long way in incorporating ICTs with a good IT department and connectivity throughout the college with a 300 Mbps optical fibre. Currently, all classrooms have been transformed into smart classrooms as of February 2023 equipped with modern teaching facilities. MCTE is one institution that is defining the education market offering through its core product, the Bachelor of Education ( B. Ed ).

This is a two-year full-time programme with the aim of preparing students professionally to face teaching challenges. Students pursuing this programme have an approved intake of one hundred, and the college prepares to produce a large number of qualified educators annually. Enrolment at MCTE follows, as a guideline, the general selection criteria of Nagaland University.
