National Research Institute for Sowa Rigpa, Leh (NRISR) is a pioneering academic institution committed to Sowa Rigpa which is basically the traditional Tibetian system of medicine. Situated in the beautiful place, Leh Ladakh this affiliated college mainly focuses in the specialised education in the field of Ayurveda.
It is still unclear when NRISR was founded and where it ranks today, but it is an important organisation for the development and study of this ancient therapy. National Research Institute has 18 programmes that offer courses for internationally qualified students and the institute aims at availing quality learning facilities for its students.
At the same time, the institute offers several mandatory amenities for the successful development of academic and personal achievements. College library is used as a resource centre where there are books and other materials relevant to Sowa Rigpa and end other related topics.
Firstly, the University has functional and resourceful departmental laboratories in which students can practice preparing traditional medicines and research. Academically, NRISR offers only one programme known as the BSRMS , which is a full time and takes 6 years to complete. This prolongation of time makes is easy to learn Sowa Rigpa medicine through intensive study and practical training.
Information regarding the total number of seats, and the percentage graduation rates currently remain unavailable; nonetheless, such a focused approach to offering only this programme offers the unique, individualised learning environment that may best prepare students for the challenges of postgraduate education and the workforce.
Another factor describing the specificity the admission process at the NRISR is that the programme offers BSRMS created to target candidates with a passion towards Sowa Rigpa medicine.
